Manny Maceda, Global Business Leader and Culture Builder, to Receive Honorary Doctor of Management from ̳

Former CEO and current chairman of Bain & Company, Maceda helped double the size of the firm while setting new standards for leadership, culture, and innovation in global consulting

CHICAGO—May 17, 2025—Illinois Institute of Technology (̳) will award Manny Maceda (CHE ’84), a visionary business executive and global management consultant, an Honorary Doctor of Management, honoris causa, at its 156th Commencement ceremony today at Credit Union 1 Arena. Maceda, former CEO and current chairman of , has transformed the business consulting landscape by combining deep strategic experience with a commitment to culture, innovation, and human-centered leadership.

After earning a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from ̳, Maceda went on to receive an M.S. in Management from MIT’s Sloan School of Management. He joined Bain in 1989 and has remained with the firm for more than 35 years, advising global CEOs and orchestrating enterprise-wide transformations involving strategy, performance improvement, and organizational effectiveness. He has held multiple senior leadership roles, including chairman of the Asia-Pacific region, global leader of the Transformation and Performance Improvement practices, and as a member of the firm’s Management, Nominating, and Global Operating committees.

Appointed worldwide managing partner and CEO of Bain in 2018, Maceda helped double the firm’s size, expanded its digital and technological capabilities, and led more than 20 strategic transactions. He maintained the firm’s reputation for excellence in workplace culture—under his leadership, Bain was regularly ranked #1 on Glassdoor’s list of Best Places to Work and, in 2024, was named #1 on Glassdoor’s inaugural list of Best Led Companies in the United States.

In addition to his career at Bain, Maceda serves on the Board of Directors for the Stryker Corporation, the Ayala Corporation and The Bridgespan Group. He also serves on the North American Advisory Board at MIT Sloan. Maceda was previously a member of the International Business Council of the World Economic Forum and the U.S. Business Roundtable. He is a founding partner of the Asian American Foundation and the OneTen Initiative and has previously received an honorary degree from De La Salle University in the Philippines.
